Virtual flight testing is all the rage these days. Before we ever commit to hardware, we test our design in cyberspace with high-fidelity simulations in order to demonstrate its performance. I will teach you how these high-fidelity simulations are built, validated, and used for performance evaluations. This workshop, with its 330 commented PowerPoint slides, is based on my five decades of experience, supporting the U.S. Department of Defense, while teaching at the University of Florida. It is the expanded version of short courses I conducted at universities, industry, and government laboratories. In four days, you work through the presentations and experiment with my six degrees-of-freedom simulations of air-to-ground, air-to-air, surface-to-air, surface-to-space missiles and rockets. Hopefully, you are on good terms with flight dynamics, and speak the C++ language. The only thing you need is a Windows-based PC with the Microsoft Visual C++ compiler installed. Everything else is provided to you free of charge. Once you have completed the workshop, you will be able to adapt my simulations to your own needs and launch your missile or rocket into virtual cyberspace. In this second edition I made some corrections, updated the simulations to MS VS C++ 2022, and indicated that the plotting program CADAC Studio is now compatible with Windows 10 and 11. Read more
